Rwandan Community Abroad in South Africa

The Rwandan Community Abroad then it used to be called Rwandan Diaspora, it began and originated from the Embassy of Rwanda in Pretoria-South Africa around 1999. It was started by few Rwandans mostly students and its first mission was to mobilize Rwandans in all Southern African countries.

Rwandan Community Abroad in South Africa (RCA-SA)

They are composed of professionals and business people. Due to the agreement between the government of Rwanda and South Africa in the sector of education, all Rwandan students used to pay the tuition fees as south Africans. Many students took advantage of this facility and enrolled in the SA Universities. Some of the students who graduated stayed in SA and got employed in the private sector and NGOs. There is a group of Rwandans who relocated in South Africa in early 90’s following the insecurity in former Zaire, they are professionals, medical doctors or successful businessmen, many have acquired SA citizenship but maintained close contact with the Mission.

Rwandan Professionals Abroad is a non-governmental Organization (NGO) committed to contribute to Rwandan development by working in partnership with the Government of Rwanda and its partners through collaborations, consultations and dialogues. Rwandan Professionals Abroad brings diverse skills, knowledge and experience to assist in the implementation of GoR’s national Strategic Goals (NSG).
